General Info

Purpose

This two-day event is the second in a planned yearly ‘Cosmic Frontiers’ series for New Mexico, following a very successful Cosmic Frontiers 2024 - Stephen Hawking and the Universe. The 2025 program will bring together eminent planetary scientists and astronomers for three main scientific sessions: Planets in our solar system, Exoplanets, and Methodology for planetary study and exploration. The goals are to excite students and the local public to:

  1. Think about planetary bodies
  2. Learn about how the cosmos can be studied
  3. Discuss and communicate science to the public
  4. Understand LANL’s contribution to space research
The scientific talks will be divided equally between presentations from LANL scientists, scientists from New Mexico Universities, and scientists from outside New Mexico.

A book sale, planetarium shows, films, and stargazing will also occur. All components are free and open to the public.
